Leon Koomen
After graduating in Osteopathy from Victoria University in 1999, Leon travelled throughout Europe working as an osteopath for a professional cycling team (Tour de France, Vuelta Espana). He also worked with Cirque de Soleil in Australia and Europe. Leon has a long personal history of sports injuries (which drew him to osteopathy in the first place), and he particularly enjoys working with all types of physical professionals. For the past six years he has focused increasingly on treating pregnant women, infants and children and recently completed his Graduate Certificate in Neonatal and Infant Paediatric Manual Therapy.
Leon is fascinated by the complexities of the human body and enjoys developing a dialogue with each patient in order to approach their individual problems or challenges. He has extensively studied Osteopathy in the Cranial Field, including Biodynamic Osteopathy. Leon started Osteopathic Sense in 2007, having worked on the premises since 2000. A note about the clinic’s name: an osteopath is sensorily aware when treating a person, and the application of a practical osteopathic philosophy makes sense on many levels (including common sense).
